The Squads

The club runs a simple linear structure for swimmer progression, starting at Developers leading up to the Performance squad.

Developers

"Further develop skills learned from Learn to Swim (Swim Schools) and fast track swimmers into club development squads. Then progessing to further develop swim skills, basic knowledge of training sets and understanding the benefits of good technique."

Bronze

"To develop swimmers basic knowledge of technique. Further develop good technique, build upon structured sessions in preparation to competing and to add ancillary capacities"

Skills
Diving Demonstrate a 2 footed dive on all 3 strokes and good backstroke start with arched back.
Equipment Ability to use equipment properly and perform skills effectively.
Turns From the start and off a turn kick 5m underwater on front and back using a good streamlined position.
Clock Demonstrate they can set themselves off at regular interval and take set rest and turnaround times, also be able to time themselves.
Drills Ability to perform basic main drills for all 4 strokes.

Silver

"To develop swimmers basic knowledge of technique. Further develop good technique, build upon structured sessions in preparation to competing and to add ancillary capacities."

  • Improve racing skills
  • Increase number of competitions
Attendance -
  • Aim to attend all evening sessions
  • Invitation to Saturday mornings
  • Minimum requirement 66% (missing 1 session/week - not including Saturday)
Competition -
  • Attend minimum 75% of selected competitions (including FVJL)
Attitude -
  • Show commitment to training and respect towards all coaches and swimmers
Skills

  • Aim to attend all evening and Saturday morning sessions
  • Invitation to Friday mornings
  • Minimum requirement 75% (missing 1 session/week)
Competition -
  • Attend minimum 80% of selected competitions
Attitude -
  • Show commitment to training and respect towards all coaches and swimmers
Skills

Clock Demonstrate they can set themselves off at regular interval and take set rest and turnaround times, also be able to time themselves. Use clock to take heart rate.
Drills Perform all drills with control and can choose drills specific for their needs. Know and understand purpose of each drill.

Performance

"To produce young athletes to national level with good practice, skills and knowledge. To develop swimmers within this squad who can qualify for and compete in National age group events. In addition allow swimmers to be eligible for FIRST Age Group Performance squad and have the necessary skills when selected."

  • Target SNAGS times
Attendance -
  • Aim to attend all evening and morning sessions
  • Maximum of 1 session/week can be missed but needs cleared with squad coach
Competition -
  • Attend all selected competitions (please refer to the squad competition calendar)

  • Show commitment to training and respect towards all coaches and swimmers
